Sams confirmed as USNPS director; becomes first Indigenous leader of agency

Charles 'Chuck' Sams was confirmed by the U.S. Senate late Thursday as the next director of the National Park Service.

Not only does Sams become the first permanent director since Jonathan Jarvis stepped down at the end of the Obama administration, but he becomes the first Native American to hold the position in the agency's 105-year history.
