The Bureau of Land Management has deferred nine parcels it was considering offering in an upcoming March oil and natural gas lease sale that are within 10 miles of the Chaco Culture National Historical Park in New Mexico.
BLM, in a brief press release today, did not identify the locations of the nine parcels, though maps confirm their location near the national historical park. BLM also did not state why it was deferring the parcels, covering about 1,500 acres, from the planned March 28 lease sale, which will still include 37 parcels in New Mexico and nine in Oklahoma.
