WASHINGTON, D.C. — Much-anticipated legislation to establish Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site in Collinsville as part of the national park system got a boost Thursday as U.S. Rep. Mike Bost, R-Murphysboro, introduced a bill to create the Cahokia Mounds and Mississippian Culture National Historic Park.
The park would include the 2,200-acre Cahokia Mounds site and other related sites in Madison, St. Clair and Monroe counties in Illinois, as well as Sugar Loaf Mound, the last remaining mound in the city of St. Louis.
