ARRIVING IN SAN FRANCISCO BY AIR
Major airports in San Francisco (SFO) and Oakland (OAK) provide dozens of flights into and out of the Bay Area each day. Both are about the same distance from Fort Mason, both are served by BART (see below), and so either one is an option.
ARRIVING IN SAN FRANCISCO BY TRAIN
Several Amtrak trains serve the Bay Area. Depending on which station you get off at, you can then switch to BART (see below) to get to Fort Mason and the General's Residence.

DIRECTIONS TO FORT MASON FROM HOTELS
Fisherman's Wharf Youth Hostel: Best mode of transport is by foot. When exiting the hotel, turn left to follow Funston Rd eastbound. At the corner turn right onto Franklin St and the Generals Residence will be on the left side of the road in 500 ft. Route will have a 16ft elevation difference, with no stairs.
Cavallo Point Lodge: Best mode of transport is by car (~16 min drive) vs public transport (~58 min). Will require the Golden Gate Bridge Toll. Follow McReynolds Rd and Bunker Rd to Alexander Ave. Take US-101 S to Girard Rd, merge onto Marina Blvd. At the end of the Blvd, you will start seeing parking options like lots, street parking etc.
Argonaut Hotel: Best mode of transport is by foot; public transport will not have an effect on distance travelled by foot. Head west on Jefferson St, through the Maritime Garden to Beach St. Turn left onto Polk St for one block and right onto North Point St for one block until you hit Van Ness Ave. On the Southern corner (going left) there will be a trail which will take you to the Generals Residence on the right-hand side. Elevation will increase on route by 82ft of increased elevation, with no stairs.
Hotel Zoe: Best mode of transport is by foot; public transport is available to reduce the route by foot.* Turn west on North Point St and walk for approximately 7 blocks until you hit Van Ness Ave. On the Southern corner (going left) there will be a trail which will take you to the Generals Residence on the right-hand side. Elevation will increase on route by 79ft, with no stairs. *There is a Number 28 bus stop on the corner of North Point St and Mason St that can drop you off at Van Ness Ave, cutting .6 miles of walking, which is also the section with the most incline.
Kimpton Alton Hotel: Best mode of transport is by foot; public transport is available to reduce the route by foot.* Go South on Jones St, where you will come to Nort Point St. Turn right and walk approximately five blocks until you hit Van Ness Ave. On the Southern corner (going left) there will be a trail which will take you to the Generals Residence on the right-hand side. Elevation will increase on route by 79ft, with no stairs. Route will have 79 feet of elevation difference, with no stairs. *There is a Number 28 bus stop on the corner of North Point St and Jones St that can drop you off at Van Ness Ave, cutting .5 miles of walking, which is also the section with the most incline.
Qualifying carpool vehicles will receive a reduced-price toll during the hours of 5:00 am to 9:00 am and 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday (holidays excluded). To receive this rate, you must have a FasTrak toll tag and use the designated carpool lane with at least 3 people in the vehicle.

The parking areas at Upper Fort Mason nearest the General's Residence are entirely reserved from 8:00am–5:30pm — there is no public parking allowed there during the day. Attendees who carpool may drop people off at the General’s Residence and then take the vehicle to an alternate parking site.
Attendees may park at the Fort Mason Center lot (space permitting and at prevailing rates) or on adjacent
city streets per posted regulations. The Fort Mason Center lot is entered at Marina Blvd and Buchanan
Streets (marked "Lower Fort Mason" on the map). Attendee are required to pay for parking at one of the parking stations using the parking space number indicated. Current parking rates are available at www.fortmason.org/visit. Attendees may then walk to the General’s Residence either up the stairs or through the paths on the Great Meadow. The walking distance is about ¼ mile and the elevation change is approximately 55 feet.
Parking regulations in Fort Mason and the surrounding neighborhood are strictly enforced by the local and federal authorities.
