Treasure hunter jailed, fined & banned from Yellowstone NP after needing rescue after illegal rappel

An Indiana treasure seeker who had to be rescued by park rangers after illegally rappelling into the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone in January has received multiple penalties for his actions.

David Christensen must serve a week in jail, reimburse the National Park Service more than $4,000 for the expense of getting him out of the canyon and stay out of Yellowstone National Park for the next five years.
