Optimism swelled in 2014 when the U.S. Congress approved the Coltsville National Historical Park in Hartford dedicated to the legacy of Samuel Colt and the pivotal role his firearms factory played in the Industrial Revolution.
But five years later, the historical park is still not open, and efforts to clear the final hurdle appear stalled as the National Park Service decides whether to accept the donation of two buildings in the Colt manufacturing complex for a visitor center and exhibit space.
