GRANGEVILLE — The Nez Perce Tribe has withdrawn its nomination to include the Lochsa River corridor in the National Register of Historic Places.

“The recognition of the significance of this important landscape by the Idaho State Historic Preservation Office achieved many of the fundamental objectives of the nomination,” Nakia Williamson, director of the tribe’s cultural resources program, said in a prepared statement issued Friday. “The Nez Perce Tribe will continue to advocate for the cultural and natural resources which define Nimiipuu lifeways and identity and continue to work with the federal, state and local agencies to protect resources significant to the tribe.”
