New Zealand | Draft plan would allow major aircraft activity in Aoraki/Mt. Cook NP
Aircraft could be landing and taking off from a landing zone in the Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park every 90 seconds at peak times if a draft proposal is approved.
The Department of Conservation's draft Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park draft management plan, which is now open to public consultation, proposes setting the number of allowed aircraft landings in the Haupapa/Tasman Landing Zone at 200 per day.
