President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih declared 'Farikede Faru', an eco-rich marine site in Fuvahmulah, as a protected area on Tuesday.

According to the President's Office, the president granted the protected area status to Farikede Faru under Article 4 of the Environmental Protection and Preservation Act of Maldives (Act No: 4/93) and the Administration’s Strategic Action Plan.
