Illinois closes all SPs, historic sites because of coronavirus

To prevent further spread of COVID-19, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources today announced the closure of all state parks, fish and wildlife areas, recreational areas and historic sites throughout the state. “We hate to close our outdoor and historic sites, especially as the weather warms and outdoor activities increase,” said IDNR Director Colleen Callahan. “But slowing the progression of COVID-19 through social distancing is an absolute necessity. We see the closure of our parks and other state sites and a necessary step in helping stem the spread of disease.”
