Funding for a study that could lead to the 1908 Springfield Race Riot site’s addition to the National Park System was included in a $1.4 trillion omnibus spending bill approved by the U.S. House and Senate last week.

The legislation, which is most notable for the $900 billion set aside for coronavirus relief items like $600 stimulus checks, enhanced unemployment benefits and the renewed Paycheck Protection Program, now sits on President Donald Trump’s desk.
