Federal oversight of Everglades restoration to continue after judge spurns bid to end it

Everglades restoration will continue under the watch of the federal government, at least for now, after a judge Monday denied a request by the South Florida Water Management District to end nearly 30 years of oversight.

U.S. District Judge Federico Moreno noted that the motion to vacate the historic 1992 agreement was approved in November by a district governing board that has since been dismantled by Gov. Ron DeSantis.
