Badlands environment to be protected in new Kansas SP

OAKLEY, Kan. —

Attention nature lovers: Kansas is getting a new state park that has scenery and wildlife that rivals Badlands National Park.

The Nature Conservancy announced Little Jerusalem Badlands State Park will officially open Oct. 12. The mile-long stretch of 100-foot-tall spires and cliffs lies hidden in a valley between Scott City and Oakley, Kansas, at the conservancy's Smokey Valley Ranch.
