After two-thirds of park burned in summer megafire, Lassen Volcanic NP reopens

After more than two-thirds of Lassen Volcanic National Park burned this summer, the park is reopening to visitors on Monday, at least partially.

Those wanting to walk up volcanoes or enjoy quiet alpine lakes will be able to travel 8 miles from the park’s southwest entrance to Lassen Peak, on Highway 89, or 1 mile into the park from the northwest entrance to Loomis Plaza, on Highway 89.
