An Indigenous-led opportunity to share experiences and knowledge
The purpose of the workshop is to learn from Indigenous communities about how to improve collaborative management of protected areas with federal government agencies.
The main goal of this workshop is to provide a platform for representatives of Indigenous communities associated with marine and terrestrial protected areas to share experiences and knowledge, provide case studies, and generate a dialogue to discuss the role and inclusion of Indigenous communities in the management process of protected areas. This may include, but is not limited to, Indigenous perspectives on resource conservation, use of traditional knowledge, protection and interpretation of cultural heritage, and participation in the management activities of protected areas.
