The right to wild camp in England and Wales has been lost, after a wealthy landowner successfully brought a case against Dartmoor national park, the last place it was possible without seeking permission.

The park authorities are understood to be consulting with lawyers and strengthening their case before appealing against the decision, which has dismayed nature lovers and right-to-roam campaigners across the country. In response to the case, the Labour party has vowed that if it wins power, it will expand the right to roam and wild camp across England.

A Native American group wants to see Indigenous groups given more say in how national parks are managed and wants "sacred places within the parks" returned to the relevant Native American communities.

A petition drive led by the Native Organizers Alliance asks National Park Service Director Chuck Sams, an enrolled member, Cayuse and Walla Walla, of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, to "re-indigenize national parks!"

MEDORA, N.D. — National Park Service officials said a legal review revealed that the enabling legislation for Theodore Roosevelt National Park does not allow it to maintain horses the park has kept for decades to memorialize the “historic scene” of the open range ranching era.

Park administrators recently identified the gradual elimination of the 186 horses and 12 longhorn cattle kept in the park as their preliminary preferred alternative for a livestock management plan at the park.
