Two Indigenous community conservation groups in Hawaiʻi among winners of 2019 UN Equator Prize

The United Nations Development Programme has awarded the 2019 global Equator Prize to two grassroots Hawaiʻi efforts dedicated to the perpetuation of indigenous and local knowledge and community-based conservation, according to a June 6, 2019, press release.


This recognition by the UN Development Programme and its partners honors organizations that have come up with innovative, nature-based solutions for tackling climate change, environmental and poverty challenges using the collaborative power of communities.
