Three mussel-detecting dogs will help prevent invasive species from spreading into lakes at national parks beginning Saturday at Amistad National Recreation Area.
Working Dogs for Conservation, a Montana-based nonprofit that trains dogs to help preserve natural environments, will visit the park for three-and-a-half weeks to help prevent zebra and quagga mussels from spreading into Lake Amistad, according to biological technician Joanny Guindin Robles.
